Delete your Katuranga account

Your account belongs to you. This page explains how to delete it, what gets deleted with it, and what stays — so nothing surprises you afterwards.

How to delete

Two ways, exactly the same result. Both require you to sign in to the account being deleted first — the only proof that the request really comes from its owner.

From the Katuranga app (Android)

  1. Open menu Account.
  2. Choose a section Delete account.
  3. Type your password (or your username, for accounts that sign in with Google), then press Delete my account.

From the website — without installing the app

  1. Sign in at katuranga.com/login.
  2. Open the Account page then scroll to the section Delete account.
  3. Type your password (or your username), then press Delete my account.

Can't sign in at all — forgot your password and can no longer reach the email? Send an email from the registered address to support@katuranga.com stating your username, and we'll delete the account manually.

7-day grace period, and how to cancel

After you request it, the account isn't removed immediately. It is scheduled for deletion 7 days later, and a notification email is sent to the registered address.

There are two reasons, and both really happen: a thumb that taps the wrong thing, and an account being used by someone else. This grace period lets the real owner cancel either one. While waiting, the account can still

Changed your mind? Sign in as usual, open Account → Delete account, then press Cancel deletion. Until those 7 days pass, none of your data is lost.

What is permanently deleted

There's no backup copy that can restore it. Once those 7 days have passed, we can't fulfil a "please bring my account back" request — not because we don't want to.

What stays — and why

Games you've played against other people. A game belongs to two people, and deleting half the archive of an opponent who asked for nothing isn't our right. What's removed is your name: in their archive you become "Deleted player", including in its PGN file.

Payment records, without identity. If you ever bought a plan, the order number, amount, and date are kept for bookkeeping — just as any shop keeps receipts. The stored record contains no name, email, or username: the buyer is replaced by a one-way random code

Server technical logs (which contain IP addresses) rotate automatically and are deleted within 30 days at most.

Before deleting: two things you might mean instead

Want to keep a copy of your data? Download it first via Account → Delete account → Download my data. It contains one JSON file: profile, every game with its moves, rating, points, and purchase history.

Just want to cancel your subscription? Paid plans stop on their own on their end date and the account drops to Standard — you don't need to delete your account for that. See the Plans page.
